Resident Protection: Web Shield - URL
Blocking
Web Shield can also be used to block access to certain web
pages. This option is turned off by default; you might find the
feature useful, however. For example, it can be used to prevent
some of your family members from accessing "bad" web pages
(containing porn, illegal software, etc.). If such a blocked page
is requested from the web browser, a different page will appear
announcing that access to the page was blocked by ALWIL Antivirus
antivirus.
- Enable URL blocking. This checkbox enables the URL
Blocking feature and allows you to enter the addresses to
block.
- Block URLs based on the following masks. Using the
Add button, you can enter the address mask to block. You can
use the wildcards ? and *. For example, if you enter
http://www.penthouse.com/*, no pages starting with
http://www.penthouse.com will be displayed.
ALWIL Antivirus completes entered URL addresses according to the
following rules:
- if the address does not begin with http:// or wildcards
* or ?, ALWIL Antivirus prepends http:// before the
address and appends an asterisk to the end. So, if you enter
www.yahoo.com, ALWIL Antivirus will modify it to
http://www.yahoo.com*
- if the address already starts with http://, ALWIL Antivirus does
not modify it.
